Man Man @ Black Cat (5.3.09)

It was a normal night in DC, ie rain, rain and more rain! Cori had travelled to D.C. that morning for what we only expected to be a seriously epic concert. We started our hunt for white face-paint in an attempt to fit in with Man Man's "Lord of the Flies-esc" boyish charm (unfortunately CVS forced us to settle with white eyeliner).
As we arrived at the Black Cat on Sunday night, we noticed the insane amount of instruments jammed onto a stage the size of a small dorm room. There were clusters of neon drums, horns, keyboards, a flute, xylophone, and indian headdresses? Man Man's music can only be describe as manic gypsy jazz with some crazy percussion. From the second they start playing, it's clear that they are very influenced by the book Lord of the Flies. Whether it's their all white outfits, their comedic lyrics, or the boyish charm of the drummer as he plays a party horn, the band has an energy that holds your full attention.

Comedian, Andrew Wright, opened for Man Man and all I can say is that he was actually really funny. Oh, and he was a clone of Matt McGuire.

Dear Black Cat Photo Nazi Woman,
I don't appreciate the fact that the "manager" decided that he didn't want photography at the last minute and that you felt the need to grab my camera out of my hands when I obviously disobeyed your demands. Sucks for you because you didn't have a chance to delete my pictures, better luck next time.
