Spoon & White Rabbits @ Mount Vernon (April 24, 2009)

Last Saturday, as a heat wave swept across DC, Spoon got everyone on their feet while ringing in the Spring season. White Rabbits opened for Spoon at the Spring Fling Outdoor Concert, held at the George Washington University Mount Vernon Campus. White Rabbits were a hit with their songs "Percussion Gun" and "First Song (Untitled)". Although many students at the University hadn't heard many songs by either artists, Spoon had the students dancing in 95 degrees. As soon as Spoon played The O.C. favorite, "I Turn My Camera On", everyone in the crowd starting screaming the words. I was happy to hear "I Summon You", one of my all time favorite songs, perfect for an outdoor concert. Spoon made a splash with their encore of another O.C. favorite "The Way We Get By", which proceeded with lead singer, Britt Daniel, asking the crowd if anyone could help them get some weed because "we get high in back seats of cars".
