The Virgins & Lissy Trullie @ The Bowery Ballroom (December 12, 2008)

What an amazing Friday night in NYC's Bowery Ballroom. Lissy Trullie started the night off well, ending with a cover of Hot Chip's "Ready For the Floor" followed by a dance filled performance by The Virgins.  Being a fan of photographer, Ryan McGinley, of course I'm gonna like The Virgins. Lead singer, Donald Cumming, met guitarist, Wade Oates, while doing a McGinley photo shoot in Mexico. The Virgins represent a life in New York City at its truest. Their lyrics embody everything that is the young life in Manhattan with songs like "Rich Girls" and "Teen Lovers". With Donald's amazing dance moves and the bands great energy, The Virgins put on an amazing show. Oh, and don't forget about The Virgins' nerdy yet amazing clothes ie Wade's duck-tape pants, love them!

...incentive, wanna know you're DTF...

French Kicks @ The Black Cat (November 21, 2009)

"Sex Tourists" and "Said So What" both off of the French Kicks album entitled Swimming, are two of my favorite songs, so of course I jumped at the chance to see them live in DC. Yes, it was the day before I was flying home to Los Angeles and I did have strep throat but whatever, the price you pay to see a great band. If you haven't heard of the French Kicks, they're an alternative band from the Washington, DC area. If you like The Strokes, Sound Team, or The Walkmen, you'll love the French Kicks.

Obama is Elected President

November 4, 2008: Let's just take a moment to recognize the fact the Barack Obama was elected President of the USA. Being one block away from the White House on this day was ridiculous!!! Never had Thurston (my dorm at GWU) been as empty and lacking in sexual activity as the moments after Obama won my home state of California. Every student had rushed to the White House to "kick Bush out". The streets were filled with screaming students, cop cars, and video cameras. It's a night I'll never forget. But honestly if I hear "YES WE CAN" one more time, it'll be too soon.
